York, SC: Jacob Cannegieter of York, South Carolina, formerly of Rock Valley, Iowa, died suddenly on Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with Rev. Gideon Wamala officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with family present, will be Friday, April 15, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Calvin CRC.

Jacob Henry Cannegieter was born May 3, 1975 in Sioux Center, Iowa to Wesley and Helen (Schelling) Cannegieter. Jacob graduated from Rock Valley Community High School on May 26, 1993. Upon completion of the graduation ceremony, Jacob joined a Navy Recruiter to go to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to leave the next morning for boot camp in Orlando, Florida. Once boot camp was completed, Jacob went to A School in Millington, Tennessee. Jacob spent 3 years in Japan before settling in Lemoore, California where he was assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln. Jacob was discharged from the navy July 1, 2003.

Jacob settled in Exeter, California where he began working for Diamond Perforating. In 2013 Jacob transferred to Erdle Perforating in Pineville, North Carolina, as maintenance manager, his dream job. Here, Jacob was doing what he loved every day: safety, educating, maintenance and working with others.

In Jacobs time off you could find him outdoors, his passion. He was happiest running, riding his dirt bike and RZR, camping and doing all of this with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Edna Schelling.

Along with his parents, Jacob leaves to cherish his memory; partner, Nicole Reed; sisters, Corrine Rozeboom (Jeff Ross), Kimberly Perry (Roy); brothers, Arlen Cannegieter (Kerstin), Donavan Cannegieter (Staci), grandparents, Don and Rena Cannegieter; several nieces and nephews and life-long friend, Ryan Oostra.
