Jack Riepma

IRETON, IOWA ~ Jack Riepma, 75, of Ireton, died on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Hillcrest Health Care Services in Hawarden, Iowa.
Funeral Service will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton with Rev. Bob Pollema officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton. Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Monday with the family present from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Earnest Jack Riepma was born July 28, 1940 on a farm outside of Hawarden, Iowa to Jacob and Irene (Ganzeveld) Riepma. Jack married Katherine Arlene Anema on January 5, 1962 and to this union two sons were born.
Jack served in the US Marine Corps returning to this area to farm with his bride Kathy of one year and newborn son Randy. He farmed with his lifelong partner Kathy in the Craig and Ireton areas with the latest land being the Anema acreage south of Ireton. While his family was young, he finished an associate degree from Sioux Empire College located in Hawarden, Iowa.
He and Kathy enjoyed horseback riding which took them to many town parades and rodeo events, snowmobiling around the area and out west, and motorcycle riding. On his 50th birthday, he went with friends to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He spent many hours watching and talking NASCAR with family and friends. He was a member of the Ireton Christian Reformed Church.
Jack is survived by his sons, Randy (Leigh) Riepma of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Jerry (Tracy) of Ireton; 5 grandchildren Kaylee, Riley, Blake, Lauryn and Lyric; brother, Ross Riepma; half-sister, Ethel (John) Hegeman; and half-brother, Bob (Nancy) Sanderson.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife Katherine Arlene Anema; his parents; Kathy’s parents; sister-in-law, Margaret (Ross) Riepma; and half- brother, William Sanderson.
