Jack Hollesen, 82, of Hull, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Sioux Center Health. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church at George, Iowa with Pastor Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park in Sioux City, Iowa at 2:00 p.m. Visitation, with family present, will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at Tabernacle Baptist Church from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Tabernacle Baptist Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Jack Carroll Hollesen, son of Louis Carroll “Jack” and Virginia Katherine (Cowan) Hollesen, was born September 18, 1932 at Sioux Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Sioux Rapids High School, Class of 1951. In December of 1952 Jack entered into the United States Army and served during the Korean War until November of 1954. Following the war, Jack married the love of his life, Ruby Marie Meyer, on April 19, 1955 at Marathon, Iowa. The couple made their home at Alta, Iowa from 1955-1965. They moved to Sioux City, Iowa in 1965 and lived there until 1992, at which time they moved to Hull, Iowa. During his life, Jack worked for Bell Telephone from 1951-1985, Morningside Christian School from 1985-1992, and the Foreign Candy Company from 1993-1998. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church at George, Iowa. Jack had a kind heart and was always wanting to lend a helping hand.

Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruby Hollesen of Hull; two sons, Don (Sunny) Hollesen of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Paul (Charlene) Hollesen of Hull; one daughter, Carol (Kelly) Boelsma of Ashton, Iowa; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda L. (Harlan) Heidelbauer of Rochester, Minnesota and Kathy A. (Larry) Jatho of Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Louis “Jack” and Virginia Hollesen and one brother, Alan Don Hollesen.
