Ida Van Veldhuizen, 91, of West Burlington, died at 5:30 AM Friday, December 30, 2016, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born February 16, 1925, in Sioux Center, IA, she was the daughter of Maas and Hattie Blyenberg Van De Hoef. On August 12, 1943, she married Joe Van Veldhuizen in Sioux Center, IA.
Ida was a homemaker and farmer's wife.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington.
Ida loved to bake everyone's favorite butter cookies and did some embroidering, painting and crocheting. Her favorite thing was taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, Milo (Kim) Van Veldhuizen of West Burlington, Arthur (Mary) Van Veldhuizen of Turner, OR, Lee (Sandy) Van Veldhuizen of Sioux Center, Randy (Lisa) Van Veldhuizen of Hawarden; one daughter, Nancy (Scott) Kimbell of Battleground, WA; three sisters, Margaret Vander Stowe, Jeanette Van Kikerix and Henrietta Van Beek all of Rock Valley, IA; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and one sister, one grandson and one sister-in-law.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon with the family to receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk.
The funeral service for Mrs. Van Veldhuizen will be 12:00 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 2030 Plank Road, Keokuk with Rev. Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating. Visitation for Mrs. Van Veldhuizen will be held Friday, January 6, 2017, at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley, Iowa from 9:00 - 10:00 AM with a Funeral Service following at 10:00 AM with Rev. Doug Van Aartsen officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley.
