Hubert Landegent

Rock Valley, IA: Hubert Landegent, age 89, of Rock Valley, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Whispering Heights. Visitation with family present will be 8:30-10 AM at Faith Reformed Church in the Family Life Center, burial at 10:30 AM at Valley View Cemetery, and a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 AM at Faith Reformed Church, Rock Valley, Iowa, all on Saturday, March 30, 2013 with Rev. Mike Molenaar and Rev. Tom Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Hubert William Landegent was born January 11, 1924 near Sioux Center, Iowa, son of John and Annie (Vander Linden) Landegent. In 1945, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. On January 24, 1947, Hubert married the love of his life, Wilhelmina Van Maanen. Together they lived and farmed east of Rock Valley for 62 years before moving to Rock Valley in 2008. Hubert also drove bus for River Valley many years. His enjoyment in life was his family and friends, riding motorcycle, and fishing. He will be remembered as a wonderful man who loved the Lord.

Grateful and blessed for having shared his life are his wife, Wilhelmina; five children, Ron (Peg) Landegent of Panama City, FL, Dean (Marilyn) Landegent of Sioux Falls, SD, Larry (Marcia) Landegent of Rock Valley, Nancy (Bob) Smith of Chester, SD, and Betty (Jim) Fredrikson of Rock Valley; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Alma) Landegent and Adrian (Nyla) Landegent all of Rock Valley; sister, Kay (Jack) Van Otterloo of Lakewood, CA; and sisters-in-law, Jean Landegent of Inwood, IA and Audrey Landegent of Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Case and John Landegent; sisters, Johanna (Henry) Wynia and Helen Lathrom.
