Hellen & Ana Marie Harding

Hawarden, Iowa- Hellen Harding, 39, of Hawarden, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from complications following the stillborn birth of her daughter Ava Marie.
Funeral service for Hellen and Ava Marie will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with Pastor Scott Conner of the Alcester Baptist Church officiating. Hellen L. Harding was born January 12, 1974 in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and June (Allen) Simpson. She graduated from West Monona High School in 1993. Hellen married Jon Harding June 15, 1996 at the Church of Christ in Whiting, Iowa. They made their home in Onawa where she was employed at Denise's Family Dining and worked in the kitchen and laundry at Burgess Memorial Hospital.
They moved to Hawarden, Iowa in 1998. She was a cook at Hillcrest Health Care Services and currently was employed at Oakhill Assisted Living, working in all areas of the facility.
Hellen was a great cook and her son Garret enjoyed her 'red chicken' meal the best. She collected snow globes and was an avid movie watcher. Hellen was a very giving person who was easy going and loved spending time with her family. The love of her life was her husband Jon and she always said she needed to 'take care of my boys.'
She is survived by her husband, Jon; son, Garret age 12; her mother, June Ottman of Onawa; brother, Robert (Leslie) Riner of Onawa; 4 sisters, Debra (Paul) Hoefling of Sioux City, Iowa, Lisa (Bruce) Knutson of Le Mars, Iowa, Beth (Harry) Dell of Urbandale, Iowa, and Paula (Audie) Wood of Onawa.
Hellen was preceded in death by her father; and her stillborn daughter, Ava Marie.
