Harold Hans Moeller was born on September 18, 1930, in Sioux County, Iowa, to Hans and Catharine (Tank) Moeller. He attended country school in Plato Township. He graduated from Rock Valley High School in 1948. On the way to a Luther League Conference, Harold with his friends fought forest fires in Yellowstone National Park, and their service is recognized with a plaque at the park. He enlisted in the US Army where he served in Germany during the Korean Conflict (Artillery) and was honorably discharged in 1954. He farmed with his brother, Robert, until his retirement.

Harold was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church of Sioux Center, where he actively participated and served on the Church board. Harold valued serving his community and volunteered his time to local community boards, including Community Oil. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Harold was a lover of the outdoors; a steward of the land; and a caretaker of animals. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to travel, reflecting often on his time overseas with the Army and his family vacations. He raised acres of sweet corn and pumpkins to share with family and neighbors. He took great pride in his farm. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and lifelong friends.

He was united in marriage to Rose (Kohls) Moeller on August 7, 1974, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Harold farmed on his Century Farm west of Sioux Center, where he and Rose raised their three daughters. His love for his family was unsurpassed, and he instilled the importance of family to those he loved.

Harold is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn (Doug) Reed of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Janet Moeller of Chicago, Illinois; and Jayne Armondo of Gurnee, Illinois; three grandchildren, Elle and Emily Armondo of Gurnee, Illinois; and Catherine ‘Cate’ Reed of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Karen (Mike) Schroeder of Le Mars, Iowa; and sister-in law, Mary Jo (Robert) Moeller of Rock Valley, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Catharine Moeller; his wife, Rose; his in-laws, George and Irene Kohls; sister and brother-in-law, Lyle and Marcea Clary; brother, Robert Moeller; nephew, Jamie Moeller; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Merlyn (Mike) and Mary Miller.
