Ireton, Iowa: Harold Van Bruggen, 81, of Ireton died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at his residence. Visitation with the family present will be 9:30-10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the First Reformed Church in Ireton. A memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 with Rev. Doug Van Aartsen officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Thurman Cemetery in Thurman, Iowa. Harold Eugene Van Bruggen was born February 4, 1934 in Ireton, Iowa to Henry and Lena (Kneubel) Van Bruggen. Harold graduated from the Ireton High School. On November 9, 1954, Harold enlisted with the United States Air Force and was later honorably discharged on August 29, 1958. After his military service, Harold married Mary Hill. Together they made their home in Thurman, Iowa. Harold took great pride as a commercial electrician. He traveled to Kansas City to wire robots and also to the Pacific Northwest doing union work. After Mary died in 1994, Harold moved back to Ireton in 1996. Harold found great joy and happiness while playing golf.
Harold is survived by his siblings, Jean Huizenga of Orange City, Iowa, Ted (Eunice) Van Bruggen of Sioux Center, Iowa, and Arlys Feenstra of Orange City, Iowa; special friend, Carol Hutton of Craig, Iowa; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; brother in infancy, Arlin; and brothers-in-law, George Huizenga and Dennis Feenstra.
