Gloria Jean Van Beek

Gloria Jean Van Beek, 80, of Rock Valley, Iowa formerly Inwood, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at her home at RiverView Ridge of Rock Valley. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 18, at 1:30 PM at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Rock Valley with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Thursday, November 17, from 5:30-7:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

   Gloria Jean (Van Veldhuizen) Van Beek was born October 13, 1942, to Peter and Henrietta (Otten) Van Veldhuizen in Canton, South Dakota. She graduated from West Lyon High School in May 1960.

   Gloria was united in marriage to Albert M. Van Beek on November 27, 1962. They lived southwest of Rock Valley, Iowa before moving to the farm east of Inwood, Iowa. Albert passed away on January 10, 2022. Gloria moved to RiverView Ridge in Rock Valley in January 2022. Her grandkids and great grandkids were special to her, and she loved when they visited.

   She is survived by her 7 children, Shar (Carlin) Groeneweg of Rock Valley, Marvin Van Beek of Larchwood, Iowa, Paul (Dawn) Van Beek of Doon, Iowa, Randall (Karen) Van Beek of Ireton, Iowa, Carolyn (Jamie) Van Beek of Inwood, David (Melissa) Van Beek of Inwood, and Jeffrey (Jolene) Van Beek of Hull, Iowa; 27 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Arlene Van Beek of Dalhart, Texas, Doris (Keith) Boer of Rock Valley, and Don "Festus" (Gwen) Van Veldhuizen of Larchwood; sister-in-law, Irene (Henry) Ter Wee of Larchwood; 3 brothers-in-law, Ron (Crystal) Van Beek of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Peter (Linda) Van Beek of Canton, South Dakota, and James (Donna) Van Beek of Ireton; and 4 sisters-in-law, Harriet (Dick) Bonnema of Ireton, Priscilla (Harlan) Driesen of Doon, Mary (Rog) DeGroot of Hull, and Ruth (Allen) DeJager of Maurice, Iowa.

   Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Van Beek; parents, Peter and Henrietta Van Veldhuizen; grandson, Kyle Dreke; parents-in-law, Peter and Julia Van Beek; brother, Gerrit Van Veldhuizen; and 3 brothers-in-law, Cornelius Van Beek, Gerald (Wilmina)Van Beek, and Junior Van Beek.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School or RiverView Ridge of Rock Valley. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley is assisting the family with arrangements.
