SIOUX CENTER, IOWA ~ Glenna Mae Rose Fickbohm, 81, of Sioux Center, formerly of rural Hawarden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. surrounded by family, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the American Lutheran Church, ELCA, 1417 12th Street, in Hawarden, Iowa with Pastor Kandi Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. A luncheon at the church will follow the committal service. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Glenna was born in Hudson, South Dakota on December 19th, 1943, to Densel and Rose Roberts. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Sioux Center, Iowa. Glenna graduated from West Sioux High School in 1961 and attended Nettleton College. She worked at First National Bank in Sioux Center, Iowa. On November 30, 1963, she married Duane Fickbohm, and they farmed in Sioux County for 60 years. She was a member of the Hawarden American Lutheran Church and served on several committees. In 1990, Glenna was one of the founders of the Arthritis Support Group in Hawarden, Iowa. Glenna was an active volunteer of the Hospice Program around Sioux Center.
Survivors are her husband, Duane of Sioux Center; son, Robin (Myong Chu) Fickbohm and daughter, Kim (Tom) Heeren. Her five grandchildren, Jimmy (Paige, great-granddaughters Charlotte, and Eliza) Fickbohm, Jayson (Julie, great-grandson Colton) Fickbohm, Nicole (Justin) Newton, Samantha (Michael) Berry and Melanie Heeren (Jon Forster).
Mrs. Fickbohm was preceded in death by her father, Densel and mother, Rose; daughter, Trish Katherine; and great-granddaughter, Melanie Kay.
Glenna was an amazing chef and baker. She was famous amongst her family and friends for her chocolate chip cookies and pumpkin bars. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
