Gertrude Mulder

Ireton, Iowa~ Gertrude A. Mulder, 91, of Sheldon, formerly of Ireton, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa.
Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton, Iowa with Rev. Norlyn Van Beek officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Visitation will begin at noon Monday, with the family present from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Gertrude Alvina Mulder was born April 6, 1924 near Maurice, Iowa, the daughter of Tony and Jennie (Van Schepen) Vander Kooy. She married Irwin Mulder on October 29, 1948 at Ireton, Iowa. Together they farmed near Ireton and raised their family. Gertrude was a hard working and caring wife and mother. She was busy with her children and enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. She also enjoyed collecting pretty pictures from magazines.
Gertrude was a member of the Ireton Christian Reformed Church where she attended Ladies Aide. Irwin passed away on February 2, 2004. Gertrude later moved to Sioux Center and in October of 2013 to the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care.
She is survived by her children June (Tim) Dykstra of Sioux Center, Iowa, Joann (Steve) Rietema of Kalispell, Montana, Jean (Gerald) De Bey of Sioux Center, Joy (Tim) Van Schepen of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Jeff Mulder of Ireton, Jim (Leanne) Mulder of Sioux Center, and Jay Mulder of Rock Valley, Iowa; her sister, Henrietta Den Besten of Sioux Center; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irwin; son, Jerry Lee Mulder; and an infant grandson.
