Inwood, Iowa: George Keizer, 87, of Inwood, Iowa died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Fellowship Village in Inwood. Visitation with the family present will be 2:00-3:30 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. George Keizer was born February 14, 1928 in Rock Valley, Iowa, the son of Jake and Anna (Reitsma) Keizer. He graduated from Rock Valley High School and Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa. George honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II where he was stationed in Japan as an office clerk for General Douglas MacArthur. George worked as a manager at Farmers Mutual Insurance in Hull, Iowa and a stockbroker at Shearson, Leahman, and Hutton.
George was a member of the American Legion and Our Saviors Lutheran Church both of Rock Valley. George proudly started Boy Scouts of America in Rock Valley and was one of the founders of the Rock Valley Golf Course where he helped design the layout of the golf course. In his spare time, George loved golfing, sailing, fishing, and camping.
George is survived by his three children, Cheri (Steve) Gacke of Rock Valley, Iowa, Jeff (Sonia) Keizer of Henderson, Nevada, and Lisa (Tim) Miller of Rock Valley, Iowa; 4 granddaughters; 3 great-granddaughters; and special friend, Jean Dodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Anna Keizer; brother, Sam Keizer; and sister, Christina Schomacker.
