Gene Driesen, 79, of Hull, formerly of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Christian Reformed Church in Hull with Rev. Todd Zuidema officiating. A prayer service will be held at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday followed by burial at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present will be 6:00-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Porter Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Sioux Center Hospice and condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Gene Driesen was born September 4, 1936 at Rock Valley, Iowa, son of Bert and Jennie (DeBoer) Driesen. He attended and graduated from Western Christian High School. Gene married Nella Klomp on April 27, 1956 at Rock Valley. Together they lived in Rock Valley where Gene was a machinist at Kooima Manufacturing/Harvard Industries. He also drove school bus for 25 years for Rock Valley Christian School. Gene served as an Elder and Deacon while a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley. In 1995, Gene and Nella moved to Hull, Iowa and were members of Hope Christian Reformed Church. In his younger years, Gene loved playing fast pitch softball.

Gene is survived by his wife, Nella of Hull; three children, Cindy (Daryl) Vander Well of Prinsburg, Minnesota; Glenda (Randy) Kelderman of Rogers, Arkansas; and Brad (Nancy) Driesen of Hull; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four brothers, Harold (June) Driesen, Don (Donna) Driesen both of Rock Valley; Bernard (Margaret) Driesen of Hull; and Marion Driesen of Oostburg, Wisconsin; three sisters, Helen (Ken) Remmerde of Aumsville, Oregon; Carol (Rodney) Sandbulte and Diane (Harry) Rozeboom both of Rock Valley; and one brother-in-law, Howard Van Otterloo of Salem, Oregon.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Jennie; and one sister, Elaine Van Otterloo.
