Rock Valley, Iowa: Frances Hamann, 90, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Whispering Heights at Rock Valley. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Pioneer United Methodist Church of Rock Valley with Rev. Todd Schlitter officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation, with the family present, will be Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.
Frances Hamann, daughter of Daniel and Maggie (La Grouw) De Jonge, was born May 19, 1925 at Rock Valley, Iowa. Frances married Karl Hamann on July 6, 1944 at Pueblo, Colorado. Together they lived at Rock Valley where Frances worked several different jobs including at the Warren Café which she later owned. Frances later was head of Hegg Memorial Hospital Housekeeping and had worked at Dr. Hegg’s Clinic. She was a 50+ Year Member of Pioneer United Methodist Church. Karl died April 8, 1998. Frances married Bill Hamann on January 15, 2000.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Bill Hamann; 2 sons, Dennis (Tom Hawkey) Hamann of Denver, Colorado; and Kim (Karin) Hamann of Silver Springs, Maryland; 2 grandchildren, Kristen (Scott) Grandt of Lauderdale, Minnesota; and Dane Hamann and friend Jeana Platz of Lemont, Illinois; brother, Simon (Mary) De Jonge of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Gladys De Jonge of Sioux Falls; and close family friends, Mike and Juanita Maassen and their children, Robin and Jenna of Rock Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Maggie De Jonge; first husband, Karl Hamann; an infant son; and brother, Michael De Jonge.
