Floy Wentworth

Inwood, IA: Floy Wentworth, 100, of Inwood, Iowa died Monday, April 23, 2018 at Fellowship Village in Inwood. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 27, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Inwood with Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Visitation, with the family present, will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:30-2:30 PM at the church. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Floy Hazel Wentworth, daughter of Gidvart and Belle (Erickson) Holland, was born in Inwood, Iowa on July 19, 1917. She graduated from Inwood High School and attended Augustana College. She was an elementary teacher for six years. She taught school in Doon and Inwood, Iowa and Hudson and Beresford, South Dakota. Floy was united in marriage with Howard Wentworth on June 24, 1944 in Inwood. She became a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. Together they farmed for 20 years near Inwood and 21 years near Wilmont, Minnesota. Floy was baptized, confirmed, married and buried at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, she was active in WELCA. She was a choir member, the Sunday School superintendent and was a Bible study leader. Floy was a member of many organizations including Farm Bureau, American Legion Auxiliary, Garden Club of Wilmont and the local PTA.

Floy is survived by her children, Daniel (Diana) Wentworth of Flandreau, South Dakota; and Mary Gayle (Dennis) Roskam of Red Wing, Minnesota; son-in-law, Curt Johnson of Jasper, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren, Dana (Dan) Stein, Kristi (Brian) Johnson, Amy Wentworth, Mark (Charney) Wentworth, Lee (Annette) Roskam, Janelle (Garrett) Jaenke, Katy (Sandeep) Sekhar, Molly (Monty) Nelson, and Noelle (Sean) Bibus; 16 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gidvart and Belle Holland; husband, Howard Wentworth; daughter, Dianne Johnson; and siblings, Edward Holland, Clarence Holland, Merle Holland, Mabel Waite, Gladys Weberg, and Violet Moser.
