Florence Russell

Sioux City, Iowa~ Florence R. Russell, formerly from Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the age of 98, at the Good Samaritan Center in Canton, South Dakota.
Private Family services will be held with Rev. Barb Joy officiating.
Florence R. Russell was born February 15, 1916 in Clear Lake, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Frieda (Schleuter) Roecker. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1934 and then moved to Sioux City, Iowa. Florence married Cloyd Russell August 15, 1939 in Arnolds Park, Iowa. They made their home in Sioux City where she worked at Wincharger Company for 17 years. During WWII she was employed at the air base in Oakland, California. They returned to Sioux City where she worked at the Metz Baking Company for 20 years.
Cloyd died December 1, 1993. Florence made her home at Mica Hill in Hawarden, Iowa, the Hudson Care Center in Hudson, South Dakota and lastly at the Good Samaritan Center in Canton, South Dakota during her later years of life.
The couple enjoyed befriending animals and had many during their time together. They enjoyed camping, boating, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd in December 1993; parents; two brothers; and a sister.
Florence is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
