Etta Weaver was born Henrietta Noteboom on June 4, 1926 in Lyon County, Iowa, daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Ver Wey) Noteboom. She was one of 12 brothers and sisters in the Noteboom family. The family moved to a farm just east of Okaton, South Dakota. Etta finished the 8th grade but had to stay home to help her father on the farm as the brothers were in the service. Here is where she met John Weaver after he had been discharged from the Army. They were married December 19, 1945.
John (Little John) and Etta owned a ranch just north of Okaton until 1957 when they had to sell the farm due to Johns poor health. They then moved to Inwood, Iowa where they bought a shoe and canvas repair store. After being in business a couple of years, a grocery store in Inwood came up for sale and they purchased that business. After getting the store on solid footing, John started building campers and selling them from a shop two doors down from the grocery store.
After selling the grocery store, Etta worked in the Café in Inwood where she baked, cooked, and waitressed for 15 years. John Weaver passed away April 24, 1998.
Etta Weaver is survived by her daughter, Henrietta Shorty (Jerry) Junge of Sanborn, Iowa and their children, Kelly (Susan)--Anne Junge and Casey (Christiana)--Hailey, Reegan, Simon Junge; son, Bill (Eileen Gorrell) Weaver of Eagan, Minnesota and their child, Matthew (Nancy) Gorrell--Ruth Ann Carlson; and daughter, Judy Weaver of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and her child, Anthony (Dana) Murphy--Riley Murphy; sisters, Bertha Oldenkamp, Betty (Ed) Hauser, and Rena Borsma; and brother, Paul (Phyllis) Noteboom.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.
