Emily Van Dyke

Inwood, Iowa: Emily Van Dyke, 85, of Inwood, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Sanford Canton-Inwood Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the First Reformed Church, Inwood with Rev. Rob Horstman officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday with the family present 5:00-7:00 pm at Porter Funeral Home at Inwood.

Emily Elizabeth Walters was born July 25, 1927 at Lebanon, Pennsylvania, daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Immel) Walters. Emily married Mike Van Dyke on August 7, 1948 at Lebanon, PA and together they lived in Pennsylvania one year before moving to Inwood. Emily was a nurse's aide at Canton Good Samaritan Home and later volunteered at Fellowship Village. Mike died July 10, 1994. She enjoyed her Bible Study group; being with her grand and great-grandchildren; baking cookies; and taking care of her flowers.

Emily is survived by her children, Herb Van Dyke of Inwood, Evie (Ken) Wieczorek of Sioux Falls, SD, and Vern (Carmen) Van Dyke of Inwood; grandchildren, Michael (Jess) Van Dyke, Matthew (Tessa) Van Dyke; step-grandchildren, Kenny (Glenda) Wieczorek, Dawn (Ann Schrooten) Wieczorek; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Richard) Brightbill of Lebanon, PA; and sister-in-law, Alice Boyles of Waynesburg, PA.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike; brothers, Bill Boyles, JD Lineweaver, and Warren Lineweaver; and foster parents, Minert and Anna Lineweaver.
