Eileen Arends

Hawarden, Iowa~ Eileen Patricia (Farley) Arends, 86, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Fall, South Dakota.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. Burial will follow in the Beresford City Cemetery, Beresford, South Dakota. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. Eileen Patricia Arends was born April 12, 1928, to Frank and Mary (Lass) Farley in Beresford, South Dakota. Eileen was employed at the Pantry Café in Beresford for 3 years before she married Wesley Arends August 15, 1946 at the United Methodist Church in Beresford. They farmed east of Beresford for 21 years before moving to Hawarden, Iowa in 1968. She worked at Coilcraft in Hawarden for 36 years. Wesley passed away November 16, 2002.
Eileen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hawarden and the Alcester VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, camping with Wesley, and reading.
Eileen is survived by 3 daughters, Elizabeth (John) Otten of Hawarden, Jacquelynn (Jim) Huizinga of Weslaco, Texas, and Marlene (Jack) Backer of Monroe, South Dakota; 2 sons, Wesley (Shirley) Arends of Black Hawk, Colorado and Gary Arends of Hawarden; son-in-law, Dick Fleschner of Jefferson, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Kathy (Dick) Knight of Akron, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Marge Farley of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and Shirley Farley of Alcester, South Dakota.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 daughters, Patricia and Bonnie; an infant son; 4 brothers, Ronald, Dale, Franklin, and Gerald; and 2 sisters, Colleen Walgenbach and Myrna Hass.
