William Edward Kennedy was born November 30, 1925 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Forest Wayne and Irma (Ford) Kennedy. He graduated from the Alcester, South Dakota High School. William married Wanda Wilkison on March 30, 1947 in Hawarden. They lived in many different states while Bill was employed in golf course construction. They returned to Hawarden in 1974.
Bill worked various types of construction, making terraces, trenching for rural water, and building steel bins all under the name of Kennedy and Son. Prior to his retirement, Bill ran the crane at Boyer Sand and Gravel. Wanda died on October 17, 1993.
Bill enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee and finding out the local news.
He is survived by two sons, Lee and wife Mary of Hawarden and Barry of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; daughter, Karol Freshour of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Joseph; sister, Loree Kennedy Sogn; and his son-in-law, Gene.
