Edna Whittington Royston

Edna Whittington Royston, 83, Mitchell died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at her home under hospice care.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, March 28 at the Associated Church in Hawarden, IA under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm on Friday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Edna Leanne Royston was born November 12, 1931 on a farm northeast of Hawarden, IA to Ed and Agnes (Vander Mei) Vande Hoef. She married William Whittington on October 17, 1951. She later married Tom Royston of Mitchell, SD on June 26, 1982. Edna worked in flower shops all her life and in her later years her dream of owning her own flower shop was fulfilled when she opened Edna’s Flowers in Mitchell. Her love of family, horses, dogs, cats and flowers filled her days with great joy and kept her busy.
She is survived by four sons: Dennis Whittington, Hawarden, IA, David Whittington, Boise, ID, Drew Whittington, Brooklyn Park, MN, and Todd Royston, Prairie du Chien, WI, one daughter, Justine (Royston) Fuelmer, Spring Grove, PA, three sisters: Joann Winterfield, Ireton, IA, Agnes Kleinhesselink, Hixson, TN and Charlene Lill, Hawarden IA, 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom Royston, two daughters: Lynn and Amy, one son, Dean, five brothers: Adrian in infancy, Adrian, Harold, Tony and Richard, one sister, Cathy Bowden and sister-in-law, Maryetta Vande Hoef.
