Hawarden, Iowa: Edith 'Edie' McKee, age 71, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. Burial will follow at the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon until 4:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home and then with the family present from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church followed by a 7:30 prayer service. Edith was born August 5, 1941 to Loren and Laura (Haddican) Bryson in Hawarden, Iowa. She received her high school diploma from the Hawarden High School. On June 24, 1961, she married Larry McKee at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden. Together, they enjoyed ballroom dancing, camping and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edie worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Company. She later worked at Otis Radio, K-Products, and Coilcraft until her retirement. Edie was a member of the United Methodist Church and an avid shopper.
Edie is survived by her sons, Kelly (Kaye) McKee and Tracy (Debbie) McKee both of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Cheryl (Joe) Smith of Hawarden; brothers, Charles (Glenda) Bryson of Schleswig, IA and Douglas Bryson (Christy Hubbart) of Sioux City, IA; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-grandchildren.
Edie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; and grandchildren, Teresa McKee and David Smith.
