Duane Larson

Hudson, SD: Duane Larson, 69, of Hudson, died Monday, May 18, 2015 at his home near Hudson. Memorial service will be held Friday, May 22, 2015 at Hudson Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lori Marty officiating. Private family burial will be held at Eden Cemetery at Hudson. Visitation, with the family present will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Hudson Lutheran Church from 5:30-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service following at 7:00 p.m. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Duane Clair Larson, son of Clarence and Lu (Kittleson) Larson, was born November 8, 1945 at Hudson, South Dakota. Duane graduated from Hudson High School, class of 1964. Duane was united in marriage with Cathy Groth on June 13, 1981 at Fairview, South Dakota. Duane and Cathy lived on a farm near Hudson, where Duane enjoyed farming with his dad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards, especially if these activities were done with family. In his younger years, Duane enjoyed bowling league and being active with the Hudson Gun Club. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and also liked rooting for the Minnesota Twins. He was a former member of the Hudson Fire Department and a lifetime member of Hudson Lutheran Church.

Duane is survived by his wife, Cathy; two children, Brian (Julie) Larson of Spearfish, South Dakota and Amanda (Michael) Lounsbery of Beresford, South Dakota and their two sons, Brenden and Hayden; two sisters, Diane (David) Barton of Waverly, Iowa and Donna Manske of Rochester, Minnesota; three brothers-in-law, Darwin (Carol) Groth of Rock Valley, Iowa; Terry (Cherie) Groth of Canton, South Dakota and Kent (Kathy) Groth of Sugarland, Texas; one sister-in-law, Mary (Dennis) Gildemeister of Lake Park, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lu; brother, Dale Larson; and brother-in-law, Tom Manske.
