Donna Lou Pedersen

Rock Valley, IA: Donna Lou Pedersen, 89 of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Whispering Heights in Rock Valley. Private family services will be held Wednesday, December 23, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Rock Valley with Pastor Edward Pease officiating. The service will be available to be livestreamed at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at https://www.porterfuneralhomes.com/obituary/Donna-Pedersen. Burial will be held at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Public visitation, with no family present, will be held Tuesday, December 22, from 2:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. Masks are required at all events. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given. 

   Donna Lou (Zinn) Pedersen, daughter of Cliff and Grace (Scothorn) Zinn, born July 6, 1931, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Donna graduated from Hayes Consolidated High School in 1949. She was united in marriage with Paul Pedersen on May 20, 1951. She was blessed for having shared her life with her husband Paul for 60 years. Paul died September 23, 2011.

   Donna was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rock Valley. She was involved in the WELCA group for 54 years. She loved to attend or listen to all Rock Valley Community School sporting events. Earlier this year, when she went to the hospital, she was mad she couldn’t stay home and watch the Sub-State football game. One of her biggest hobbies was playing Bridge in three card groups. She also loved going out to eat with her friends on Saturday nights. Donna and her children had a weekly card game. She loved spending time with her family.

   Donna passed away December 17th, 2020, at Whispering Heights. She only spent four days at the nursing home. She was 89 years old. 

   Donna is survived by three children, sons, Jay Pedersen, Ron (Renee) Pedersen, daughter, Brenda Pedersen, all of Rock Valley; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Toby) Coulter of Waukee, Iowa and Erin Van Kekerix of Rock Valley; and four great grand-children, Ryder Coulter, Rowan Coulter, Ayden Hanner, and Maddox Van Kekerix.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pedersen; parents, Cliff and Grace Zinn; Paul’s parents, Chris and Pearl Pedersen; sisters-in-law, Betty Redig and Marian Kinney; and brother-in-law, Jim Pedersen.
