Donna Munns

Donna Munns, 78, Bowdle and formerly of Hawarden, Iowa, died Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Bowdle Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, March 22, 2013 at Porter Funeral Home, Hawarden, with Pastor Dan Lozer leading the service.

Donna Raye VandeBurg, daughter of Henrietta (Kuiper) and Arondt VanDeBerg, was born at Wilmont, MN on July 20, 1934. This is where she was raised and educated, attending both public and parochial schools. She married Robert Munns on August 22, 1953 at Adrian, MN. They first lived in Adrian until 1957, when they relocated to Laverne, MN. In 1961, she and Robert settled in Hawarden where raised their family. Donna also waitressed for many years. In August 2012 Donna relocated to Bowdle to be near her daughter. Donna was a member of the Associated Church in Hawarden where she sang in the choir, served on the church council, and was active in the women's fellowship. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning, ceramics, making pottery, and baking. Donna also sang at many funerals over the years.

Donna is survived by Robert, her husband of 59 years; three sons'Shawn (Joanne) Munns and Rob Munns all of Hawarden, and Dana (Carolyn) Munns of Gulfport, MS; one daughter, Malissa (Eric) Thomas of Bowdle; two sisters'Arline McKenny of Isante, MN and Margarete McCarty of Sibley, Iowa; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father on July 26, 1957, her mother on May 29, 1991; and one sister (Jackie Peterson).
