Inwood, IA: Donald C. Pedersen, 92, of Inwood, Iowa died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Fellowship Village in Inwood. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood with Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Friday, November 2 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the church. Porter Funeral Home of Inwood is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed to Lake Pahoja Education Center or the Bethlehem Lutheran roofing fund.
Donald C. Pedersen was born in Inwood, Iowa on August 24, 1926 to Alfred and Maria (Jensen) Pedersen. He was baptized, confirmed, married, and will be buried at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Don graduated from Inwood High School and served in the Air Force in WWII. He owned and operated Don's Standard Station for 36 years. He married Karol Kollman on August 28, 1951, four days after his 25th birthday, fulfilling a pledge he had made to not marry until he was 25. They were blessed with four children.
Don worked hard but found time with his family to camp and boat at Lake Okoboji. He served on church boards, the town council, fire department, American Legion, and the Commercial Club. Don was an avid volunteer for city projects such as the Inwood 4th of July celebration, Fellowship Village, and the West Lyon School football chain gang for 35 years.
Being an avid fisherman and hunter, he was a bow hunter of deer and always managed to get his deer, most recently when he was 90. His most loved hobby was raising his exotic pheasants and chickens.
Don is survived by his wife, Karol, and 3 daughters: Koni Schiller (Paul), Kathy Scholten (Ron), and Nancy Schlotfeldt (Bruce). He has 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, 3 brothers, and his beloved son, Jim.
