HAWARDEN, IOWA ~ Dolores Mae Westcott, 92, of Hawarden, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Milwaukee Catholic Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

 Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa with Rev. Jean Layton of the Associated Church officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

 In lieu of flowers and gifts, Dolores’ family prefers memorials be directed to the Associated Church or the Two Oaks American Legion Post 254 of Hawarden.

 Dolores Mae Westcott was born May 15, 1932, in Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of Que Wayne and Nina Fern (Handy) Haines. She graduated from Hawarden High School and from Nebraska State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska. She married Russell Lee Westcott July 26, 1952, at the Associated Church in Hawarden. She lived in Hawarden after their marriage while Russell served in the Navy. Dolores taught school in Ireton, Iowa for 2 years.

 In 1958 they moved to Kansas due to her husband working construction, then moved to Centerville, Iowa in 1965. Dolores was an income tax preparer for 40 years owning her business Westcott Tax Service. They moved back to Hawarden in 2005.

 Dolores loved to go dancing with Rusty and loved to read, watch old movies (especially westerns), watch baseball and football, play cards, and listen to music (especially Elvis and Kodi Lee!). When they lived in Centerville she taught Sunday School for many years. She did a lot of community work in Centerville and Hawarden and was active with the American Legion Auxiliary. Dolores loved to be with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She liked to reminisce about life with her husband, family, friends, and her childhood in Hawarden.

 Dolores is survived by her children, David L. Westcott and wife Gina of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lori A. Logsdon of Centerville, Iowa, Candee K. Seidita and husband Tony of Shorewood, Wisconsin, Michelle D. Cortesio and husband Brian of Box Elder, South Dakota, and Geri A. Lapinski and husband Larry of Greenfield, Wisconsin (Dolores and Rusty’s “adopted daughter”); her sister, Barbara Kelley of Hawarden; grandchildren, Amber Westcott-Baker (Lucas), Germantown, Maryland, Ashlee Davis, Albia, Iowa, Sara Seidita, Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Amanda Seidita (Alex), While Lake Township, Michigan; step grandchildren, Megan Stackhouse (Andy), Lanesville, Indiana, Paul Kaelin, Clarksville, Indiana, and Brendan Cortesio (Sara), Altoona, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Arli Westcott-Baker, Faye Davis, Elle Davis, and Gray Davis; and step great-grandchildren, Will Stackhouse, Lilly Stackhouse, Mia Cortesio, and Luca Cortesio.

 Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; her parents, Que W. and Nina F. Haines; siblings, Beverly Van Buskirk (Raymond), Nina Montgomery (Cliff), Arlene Case (John), Que Jr. Haines (Dorothy), Norman Haines (Becky), Donna Peterson (Raymond), and Carole Popken (Larry); brother-in-law, Bill Kelley; and grandson, Michael Logsdon.
