Dick Moorlag

Rock Valley, IA: Dick Moorlag, age 92, of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away on September 28, 2024, at Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley. A private service for family and friends will be held at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1, with Rev. Matthew Haan officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements for Dick.

 Dick Moorlag was born on October 8, 1932, to Albert and Rolena (Driesen) Moorlag of Rock Valley. He attended Rock Valley Christian School. Dick served in the U.S. Army in Fort Bliss, Texas. He married Albertha Van Zanten on December 27, 1955. To this marriage two precious children, Debra and David, were born; both died in infancy.

 The couple moved from Rock Valley to Denver, Colorado in 1960 and then to Loveland, Colorado in 1977. Dick and Albertha were members of Calvary United Reformed Church in Loveland for over 40 years. They moved back to Rock Valley to be closer to family in 2021 and attended First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley.

 Dick was preceded in death by his wife Albertha in April 2024; infant daughter Debra and infant son David; parents Albert and Rolena Moorlag; sister Edith Moorlag; parents-in-law Tony and Fannie Van Zanten; brother-in-law Cornie Van Zanten; and sister-in-law Wilma Van Zanten.

 Dick is survived by his brothers-in law John (Mary) Van Zanten, Albert (Harriett) Van Zanten of Rock Valley, Iowa, Vern (Geneva) Van Zanten of Pella, Iowa, and Rev. Tony (Donna) Van Zanten of Kildeer, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
