Hudson, SD: Delores “Dee” Homandberg, 86, of Hudson, South Dakota, died Friday, December 09, 2016 at Sanford Canton-Inwood Hospital in Canton, South Dakota. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 13, at 6:30 PM at Hudson Lutheran Church with Pastor Eldon Thurow officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date at Eden Cemetery of Hudson.
Delores Leone (Hamilton) Homandberg, daughter of Raymond and Elnora (Hultgren) Hamilton, was born September 2, 1930, in rural Union County, South Dakota. Dee was a graduate of Alcester High School. She married John Homandberg in 1952. Dee helped her family by being a bookkeeper for the family business. She also spent time working at Sioux Falls Lutheran Manor, Hudson Healthcare Center, and Teddy Bear Express in Sioux Falls. Dee had a love for family and cherished the time she could spend with them. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Hudson Lutheran Church.
Dee is survived by her 3 sons, Mark Homandberg of Gary, South Dakota, Steve Homandberg (Nancy Krumm) and Tracy (Barb) Homandberg, both of Hudson; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 step-daughters and their families, Nancy (Butch) Forsythe of Akron, Iowa and Jean (Dean) Doty of Alcester; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Elnora; husband, John; infant son, Michael Scott Homandberg; infant sister, Opal Hamilton; and 4 siblings, Lucy Fodness, Russel Hamilton, Anita Mae (Skip) Anderson, and Marlys Erickson.
