Rock Valley, IA: Deanne Rose Van Zee, 73, of Rock Valley, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hegg Memorial Health Center at Rock Valley. Memorial service will be 3:30 pm Thursday, August 7 at Faith Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Rev. Mike Molenaar and Rev. Tom Smith will be officiating. Burial will be prior at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation with family present will be 5-7 pm Wednesday, August 6, at Faith Reformed Church. Memorials may be given to Bethany Christian Services and condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.
Deanne was born May 10, 1941 at Ireton, Iowa, daughter of Walter and Henrietta (Wesselink) Post. She attended Ireton Country School, graduated Sioux Center High School, and obtained her teaching degree at Northwestern College at Orange City, Iowa. She married Richard Dick Van Zee on August 8, 1963 at Carmel, Iowa. Together they lived at Rock Valley where Deanne was a teacher at Rock Valley Public Elementary School. Deanne loved being a teacher and she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting. Deanne and Dick enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with family. She especially loved the time spent with her grandchildren and attending their activities. Deanne had taught Sunday School and catechism classes, was a member of Womens Circles, treasurer of World Home Bible League, Faith Reformed Church Steering Committee and Charter Member, and was on the first auxiliary of Inspiration Hills.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Dick Van Zee; children, Lynette (Wes) Dolieslager of Doon, IA, Michael (Greta) Van Zee of Rock Valley, Brian (Jill) Van Zee of Robinson, Texas, Eric (Niesje) Van Zee of Rock Valley; grandchildren, Bailey, Cade, Breeley, and Raelynn Van Zee, Tyler, Ryan, and Kyle Dolieslager; brothers, Darwin (Lorraine) Post, Warren (Fonda) Post all of Sioux Center, IA.
Deanne was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Henrietta; Dicks parents, Henry and Jean Marie Van Zee; infant grandchildren, Amanda Rose Dolieslager, Sawyer Lee Van Zee; sister and husband, Faith and Dick Franken; niece, Angela Post; nephew Kevin Post.
