Hull, IA: Darlene “Dar” Wallenburg, 73, of Hull, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at her home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 26, at 10:30 AM at First Christian Reformed Church in Hull with Rev. Loren Kotman officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley, Iowa. Visitation, with family present, will be held at the church prior to the funeral from 9:00-10:00 AM Saturday. Masks are required for services. Memorials may be given to Sanborn Christian School in Sanborn, Iowa.
Darlene Faye Wallenburg was born September 20, 1947, at Orange City, Iowa to John and Tillie (Dragstra) Wallenburg. She was raised in Rock Valley, graduating from Rock Valley Christian School and Western Christian High School. She continued her education at Dordt College and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She began teaching at Sanborn Christian School and remained there for her entire career. After retirement she moved to Hull and continued to gain a whole new group of friends.
Dar touched many lives by her loving attitude and humble spirit. She was very generous with her time and possessions. She loved and cherished her nieces, nephews, and their children as her own. She acknowledged their birthdays and holidays with cards and gifts. This past Monday morning, December 21, 2020, God gently received her into heaven.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Joyce (Jim) Burggraaf, Ev Breuer, Jean (Ruben) Fick, and Lori (Roger) Van Maanen; 12 nieces and nephews; and 36 great nieces and nephews.
She joined her parents in Heaven, as well as a sister, Mary Van Zee; and brothers-in-law, Ervin Breuer, Joe Bechler, and Richard Van Zee.
