Le Mars, Iowa-- Danny Lee Peters, 69, of Le Mars, Iowa died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 3:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa. Graveside service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. The Rev. Todd Bunge of the Trinity Lutheran Church LCMS will officiate the services. Danny Lee Peters was born July 4, 1946 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Woodrow and Evelyn (Peters) Peters. He graduated from West Sioux High School in 1966. Danny began working for IBP in Dakota City, Nebraska, later working in Le Mars, until moving to Whitehouse, Texas in 1979. The family moved to Lexington, Nebraska in 1983.
Danny married Linda Hulstein on March 17, 1985 in Whitehouse, Texas. They lived in Columbus, Nebraska beginning in 1994. Linda and Danny traveled for a few years and returned to Columbus, before they settled in Le Mars. Together they ran the Willow Creek Campground in Le Mars.
Danny enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and gambling. He liked to reminisce about growing up with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Le Mars; son, Jeff Peters of Allen, Texas; daughter, Angie Welch of Raymore, Missouri; step-children, Scott Jasper and wife Mindy of Lincoln, Nebraska and Nicole Jasper of Duncan, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Gary and wife Doris and Ricky and wife Rose all of Le Mars; a sister, Shelly Schlumbohm and her husband Scott of Hawarden; and nephews and nieces.
Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
