Daniel Norman Lange

Doon, IA: Daniel Norman Lange, 70, of Doon, Iowa, died Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 10, at 2:00 PM at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Rock Valley with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation with family present will be held Thursday, January 9, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. 

  Daniel Norman Lange, son of Norman “Jack” and Colleen (Girard) Lange, was born August 27, 1954, and raised on a farm in between Pipestone, Minnesota and Ward, South Dakota. He attended school in Verdi and at Lake Benton High School. On October 16, 1981, Dan was united in marriage with Esther Fluit in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dan labored at John Morrell, IBP and for the last 27 years at Valley Machine.

  Dan loved to be with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and his side job as an at home butcher. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and for his good attitude and willingness to help others.

  Dan is survived by his wife of 43 years, Esther; 5 children, daughter, Clazina Tankersley and her children, Kalel, Kato, and Klazina; son, Norman (Nici) Lange and their children, Alexis, Jack, Evelyn, and Elias; son, Timothy (Morgan) Lange and their children, Carlee, Chase, and Colten; son, David (Hope) Lange; and son, William Lange; 3 brothers, John (Kathy) Lange, Jim (Kelly) Lange, and Dave (Krista) Lange; siblings-in-law, Debbie Lange, Teunis (Jean) Fluit, Ella Minor, Jenny Johnson, William (LaRae) Fluit, and Alice Fluit; and many nieces and nephews.

  Preceding Dan in death were his parents, Jack and Colleen Lange; brother, Tom Lange; sister, Cheryl (Neal) Buchite; father and mother-in-law, Teunis and Elizabeth Fluit; and siblings-in-law, Harvey Burggraaf, Clazina Burggraaf, John Fluit, Bernard Johnson, and Robert Minor.
