Dale Vink

Doon, IA: Dale Vink, 75, of Doon, Iowa, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his home. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2014 at the United Reformed Church at Doon with Rev. Simon Lievaart officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery near Doon. Visitation with the family present will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at United Reformed Church. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Dale Vink, son of Dick and Etta (Jacobsma) Vink was born December 6, 1938 at Middleburg, Iowa. He married Hilda Boon on December 10, 1956 at Rock Valley, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1956 to 1958 and was later a member of the American Legion. Dale and Hilda lived by Doon on the family farm and spent many years farming, milking, and raising 8 kids. They moved to Rock Valley in 1992, lived there for 14 years and then moved back to Doon.

Dale spent many hours as a handy-man, repairing farm machinery. Other hobbies included woodworking, butchering, saw milling, and collecting antique tractors and guns. Dale enjoyed many hours of visiting and having coffee with family and friends. He was an active member of the Doon URC church, where he served as both deacon and elder. Dale also served as a board member for the Doon Christian School. His comfort in life and death was knowing he belonged to his faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.

Dale is survived by his wife, Hilda of 55 years; his 8 children, Darletta (Ron) LeLoux of Rock Valley, Sharla (Merwin) Van Beek of Tea, SD, Darwin (Barb) Vink of Doon, Carl (Sheila) Vink of Doon, Kenneth (Diane) Vink of Doon, Judy (Ivan) Schaap of Rock Valley, Harlo (Sara) Vink of Hull, and Kari (Seth) DeVries of Doon; along with 26 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 sisters-in-law; and 4 brothers-in-law.

Dale was preceded in death by one infant son; his parents, Dick and Etta; stepmother, Hattie; one infant brother, Henry; 6 sisters-in-law; and 7 brothers-in-law.
