Dale Kooima

Rock Valley, Iowa: Dale Kooima, 54, of Colman, SD, formerly of Rock Valley, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley with Rev. Dave Severtson officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Dale Henry Kooima was born May 30, 1958 in Canton, SD to Henry and Grace (Hoff) Kooima. Dale graduated from Rock Valley High School and attended NCC for a year. Dale was a welder for Twin City Fan and Blower in Brookings, SD for 28 years. On July 1, 1995 he married Deb Van Geest in Inwood, Iowa. In his free time Dale collected toy tractors and farm caps. He also enjoyed helping his family on the farm and playing with his grandson, Ryland.

Dale is survived by his wife, Deb of Colman, SD; Step-daughter, Renea (Barry) Rozeboom and their son, Ryland of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers, Allan (Bernita) Kooima of Volga, SD and Curt Kooima (Sandra Keizer) of Rock Valley; sister, Debra (Steven) Payton of Chantilly, VA; brother-in-law, Daniel (Lorraine) Van Geest of Inwood and nieces and nephews, Heath Kooima, Clint (Kristi) Kooima, Alex Kooima, Blake Kooima, Grace Kooima, Amy (Scott) Christopherson, Leland Payton, Amanda Payton, Ben Payton, Amy Van Geest, and Chad Van Geest.

He was preceded in death by his parents and young sister, Diane Lynn Kooima.
