Hull, IA: Cora Van Den Top, 94, of Hull, Iowa, formerly Doon, Iowa, died and was taken to her Heavenly home on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Memorial services will be held Monday, September 27, at 11:00 AM at the Hull Protestant Reformed Church with Rev. James Laning officiating. The service will be livestreamed. Burial will be held prior to the service at 10:00 AM at Hillside Cemetery in Doon, Iowa. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 26, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the area Protestant Reformed Schools.
Cora Van Den Top, daughter of Henry and Jeanette (Faber) Maassen, was born October 21, 1926, at Fairview, South Dakota. Cora was united in marriage with Minard Van Den Top on February 5, 1948. Cora enjoyed working side by side with her husband on the farm near Doon, Iowa where she worked in the field and milked cows. Together the couple liked to fish, garden, and work on their lawn. The Lord blessed them with 70 years of marriage. Minard died July 10, 2018.
Cora was a member of the Doon Protestant Reformed Church for most of her life until she moved to Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa and transferred her membership to the Hull Protestant Reformed Church.
She is survived by her 2 children, Jerry (Karen) Van Den Top of Hull, and Judy (John) Bouma of Hudsonville, Michigan; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marlene Van Den Top of Hull; son-in-law, Duane Netten of Hull; 2 sisters-in-law, Jenny Maassen of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Gertrude Van Den Top of Hull; and 3 brothers-in-law, Pete Van Den Top of Doon, Elmer Van Den Top and Ed Van Ginkel, both of Rock Valley.
Preceding Cora in death were her parents, Henry and Jeanette Maassen; husband, Minard; 2 children, Henry Van Den Top and Beverly Netten; 2 grandchildren, Brittney Van Den Top and James Scott Thompson; 2 sisters, Rika Van Den Top and Alice Oostra; 2 brothers, John Maassen and Marinus Maassen; 7 sisters-in-law, Pat Maassen, Jeanette Van Den Top, Wilmina Van Den Top, Arlene Van Den Top, Grace Van Den Top, Ellen Van Den Top, and Alice Van Ginkel; and 6 brothers-in-law, Marinus Oostra, Albert Van Den Top, Gerrit Van Den Top, Bill Van Den Top, Johnny Van Den Top, and Andrew Van Den Top.
