HAWARDEN, IOWA – Clara H. Bolluyt, 85, of Hawarden, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at MercyOne Regional Medical Center in Sioux City.
Funeral Service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the Hawarden Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden with Rev. Mark Klompien officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Masks and social distancing protocol will be followed.
Clara Henrietta Nyhof Bolluyt was born on September 21, 1935 in Ireton, Iowa to Henry and Clara Nyhof. She attended school in Hawarden, Iowa.
Clara married Edward “Bud” Bolluyt on January 17, 1954 in Hawarden. They continued to live in Hawarden where Clara was a homemaker, cleaned houses, and sold Avon when their children were young.
She was a member of the Community Reformed Church in Hawarden for over 60 years. Most recently, Clara was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Hawarden. Clara also loved to volunteer at the Hawarden Hospital Thrift Store where she spent several hours a week.
Clara is survived by her 3 children: Diana Gatton and husband Chip of Carroll, Iowa, Mark Bolluyt and wife Cheryl of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Carla Schmidt of Hawarden. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and their children. Michelle Gatton of Brooklyn, New York, Melanie Reames and husband Wayne, their children Teddy and Rory of West Des Moines, Iowa, David Gatton and wife Kathy, their daughter Shelby of Altoona, Iowa, Melinda Gatton of Lake City, Iowa, Ashley Fisher and husband Travis, their children Drake, Halle, and Mia of Des Moines, Iowa, Brittany Bolluyt of Des Moines, Stephanie Hofer and husband Chris, their children Jackson, Parker and Mason of Beresford, South Dakota, Steven Schmidt and special friend Jill Jacobs, his children Christopher and Taylor, her children Erica, Jaden and Ani all of Hawarden, Sarah Mora and fiancé Jose, her children Antwun, Dominic, Eli and Riley of Hawarden, Kendra Schelling and husband Trevor, their children Paisley, Kambrie and Asher also of Hawarden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Raymond (Freida) Nyhof and John Nyhof; 2 sisters, Wilmina (Jake) Biesbrock and Henrietta (infant); her husband, Bud Bolluyt; and son-in-law, Ken Schmidt.
