Inwood, IA: Carolyn Tracia (Osenga) Van't Land, 91, of Bloomington, MN, formerly Inwood, IA, died January 22, 2021, at Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington, MN. Private family services will be held at Porter Funeral Home of Inwood. Burial will be held at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Inwood Christian School. Carol was born at home, on February 19, 1929, to Andrew and Elizabeth (Vander Plaats) Osenga in Bejou, MN. Carol grew up in Bejou and attended Bejou Public School and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1947. Carol attended the University of MN for 2 years, interned at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis and worked there for nearly 10 years in Hematology as a Medical Technician.
Carol married Jacob (Jake) Van't Land on July 1, 1960 at First Christian Reformed Church in Minneapolis. They raised their kids and made their home in Richfield and Edina, MN for 30 years before moving to Inwood, IA in 1991. Carol returned to MN in 2019 and was a resident of Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington.
Carol was a stay at home mom to her 5 children but also tutored math at Calvin Christian School in Edina, and was involved in several Fellowship Circles at the Christian Reformed Churches in Edina and Inwood. Carol enjoyed crosswords, word puzzles, reading, traveling and was an excellent baker.
Carol is survived by her children, Jay (Julie) - AK, Cal (Dawn) - CO, Clint (Lisa) - PA, Jon (Sharon) - MA, and Jo – MN; Grandchildren: Stephanie, Shona, Brandon (Abby), Ian, Dylan, Brent (Krista), Jenna (Lando), Jeff, Caroline and Jonathan; and one great-grand-daughter, Kambry. She is also survived by her brother, Stanley (Shirley) Osenga - AZ; sister, Betty Van Someren - MN; sister-in-law, Diane Osenga - MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jake; parents, Andrew & Elizabeth; brothers, Elton, Laurance (Sonny), and Leroy; brothers-in-law, Marion Van Someren, Theodore Van’t Land, and Alvin Van’t Land; and sisters-in-law, Judy Osenga and Irene Van’t Land.
