Cameron Kay Davis was born on September 3, 1931 in rural Niobrara, Nebraska to Arthur and Ethel (Cameron) Davis.
He married Verlan Steeneck on October 23, 1952 in Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in Alameda, California while he served in the Coast Guard. They moved to a farm in Union County, South Dakota in December 1953 where they farmed together until he bought Verlan her dream home and they moved to town in August 1981. Verlan passed away on October 24, 2010.
Cameron enjoyed spending time with his family and Class of '49 friends. He and Verlan enjoyed going to auctions and buying furniture for him to refinish and sell. He took pride in his work and appreciated everyone who would bring their unique and unusual pieces for him to refinish. They became well-known to all auctioneers but mostly their favorites Doug and Del.
He is best known for his easy and outgoing personality. His hearty laugh and smile brought joy to everyone he came into contact with wherever he went.
He will be greatly missed by many but mostly by his survivors: a son, Randy (Lori) Davis and daughter, Lori Bockelman all of Hawarden; seven grandchildren, Heath Davis of Hudson, SD, Tiffany (Nick) Butler of Lennox, SD, Bobbie Sue Davis of Hawarden, Christopher (Emily) Lindgren of Plattsmouth, NE, Krystal (Ryan) Emerson of LeMars, IA, Sadie Davis of Hawarden and Sophie Davis of Beresford, SD; three great-grandsons, Triston, Justin and Jayden and two great-granddaughters, Kinlee and Rowan. His personal barber and little ones: Jessica, Ava and Roman; his special Nebraskans: Jo, Melvin & Ben and his Bryant cousins: Cliff & Elaine and four sisters.
Cameron was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Doug and Rick.
