Hawarden, Iowa Beverly J. Wells, 81, of Hawarden, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Hillcrest Health Care.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Ireton, Iowa with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Visitation will begin at noon Friday, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Ireton. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Bev was born on October 24, 1933 in Chatsworth, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Minnie (Vander Hamm) Hendricks. She married the love of her life Merle Wells of Ireton in 1951. They moved to Sioux City, Lincoln, Omaha, Denison, and back to Sioux City as they raised their 5 sons. Bev and Merle enjoyed dancing (square, round, etc.) Bevs hobbies included sewing, cooking, ceramics, reading, and friends.
Bev was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Ireton. A member of the UMW Group and always ready for a prayer. Her passion was family. Her marriage to Merle was an example of love and friendship for all of us. She was very proud of her boys. The staff and other residents at Hillcrest had to hear often that she raised five of them.
She is survived by her husband, Merle; five sons, Dan (wife Silvia), Ken, Jim (wife Chris), all of Omaha, Nebraska, Chuck (wife Chris Sands) of Sacramento, California, and Brad (wife Karen) of Monett, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Kassie (Chris), Kendra (Pat), Matthew, Charlene, Nathan, Amanda (Chris), Joey, Kyra and Kyle; and seven great- grandchildren, Matt, Addison, Carter, Kameron, Caleb, Mason and Avery. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Hopp (nieces Pam Schuller (Keith) and Shelley Edmunds) all of Hawarden.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Minnie Hendricks; a brother, Virgil; along with many in-laws.
