Beverly Boon

Rock Valley, IA: Beverly Sue Boon, 76, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley with Rev. Matthew Haan officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with family present, will be Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at First CRC. Memorials may be given to Rock Valley Christian School and condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Beverly Sue Vugteveen was born to Walter and Dorothy (Van Woudenberg) Vugteveen on September 29, 1939, in Rock Valley, Iowa. She graduated from Rock Valley High School. Beverly married John Boon on August 27, 1956. The couple lived in Rock Valley where Bev worked as a nurse’s aide at the Hegg Memorial Health Center for thirty-five years. After retirement, Bev worked for the Senior Center and Meals on Wheels for seven years. Beverly enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery work in her spare time. She always found time to go on bus trips with her friend Winifred Van Veldhuizen. Bev also found joy in attending and supporting her grandchildren in their school events.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of fifty-nine years, John; her two sons and their wives, Brad and Sonja of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and James “Jim” and Sharla of Rock Valley; four grandchildren, Scott (Stacy) Boon, Taya (Dave) Larson all of Sioux Falls, Shantel (Jarod) Mozer of Alton, Iowa and Sheri Boon (fiancé Brody Henrichs) of Rock Valley; step-mother, Mavis Vugteveen and siblings, Larry Vugteveen and Linda Mulder, all of Sioux City; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernie and Martha DeJager of Doon, Iowa, Marvin and Eileen Boon of Hull, Iowa, and Virgil and Joan Horstman of Hull, and sisiter-in-law, Hilda Vink of Doon.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herman and Mary Steensma, Andrew and Jo Boon, Gerrit and Henrietta Nibbelink, Ben and Hermina Boon, Gerald and Gert Van Engen, Marinus and Grace Van Hofwegen, Elmer and Fannie Mae Boon, and brother-in-law, Dale Vink.
