Betty Juffer

Ireton, Iowa ~ Betty Ione Juffer, 91, of Ireton, died on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Hillcrest Health Care Services in Hawarden, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church in Ireton, Iowa with Rev. Norlyn Van Beek officiating. Lunch and visitation with the family will follow the memorial service. Private burial service for immediate family only will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton.

Betty Ione Juffer was born May 12, 1924 in Eagle Township, northeast of Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of William and Marie (Moeller) Schlumbohm. She grew up on the farm in Sioux County. She graduated from Sioux Center, Iowa High School. Betty married Preston “Pat” Juffer on January 12, 1945. The couple made their home in Ireton, Iowa, where she worked at Del’s Grocery for 6 years. Betty worked at Booth Drug in Hawarden for 15 years and was a Foster Grandparent in Rock Valley Kindergarten Class for 14 years. She was a member of the Ireton Christian Reformed Church.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Pam Schwiesow (Kent) of Le Mars, Iowa; her son, Lynn of Ireton; her daughter, Dr. Peg Juffer (Ray Prokop) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; her grandson, Brett Schwiesow of Appleton, Wisconsin; her grandson, Dr. Tyler Schwiesow, his wife, Emily and her great-grandchildren, Joe and Eliza of Des Moines, Iowa; her grandson, Gabe Pieper, his wife Jill and her great-grandchildren, Noah and Addie of Marshall, Minnesota; one brother, Eugene Schlumbohm of Alcester, South Dakota; and nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Preston on January 20, 1969; two sons-in-law, Kent Schwiesow and Ray Prokop; two brothers, Earl and Lyle Schlumbohm; and two sisters, Irene Loe and Bernice Williams.
