Inwood, IA: Bette Lou Hanson, 92, of Inwood, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Fellowship Village of Inwood. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 7, at 10:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Inwood with Rev. Don Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Sunday, June 6, from 3:00-4:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Inwood.
Bette Lou Hanson, daughter of Walter W. and Innanda S. (Loe) Koch, was born December 3, 1928. She grew up in the Hudson, South Dakota and Inwood, Iowa region. Bette graduated from Inwood High School. Upon graduating high school, Bette was united in marriage with Eldon Hanson on July 25, 1949. The couple farmed near Inwood where they raised their 4 children, Greg, Scott, Peggy and Melinda. Eldon died April 19, 2011. In 2019, Bette moved to Fellowship Village where she loved the excellent care she received.
Bette enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking (especially bread), crossword puzzles, and gardening. She was a longtime member of the Inwood United Methodist Church until they closed. She then joined the United Church of Christ in Larchwood, Iowa until driving became too difficult, at which time Bette joined Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Inwood.
Survivors include Bette’s 2 sons, Greg (Sandy) Hanson and Scott (Pam) Hanson, both of Inwood; daughter, Melinda (Jerry) Schelling of Fremont, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Innanda; husband, Eldon; daughter, Peggy Hansen; daughter-in-law, Cathryn Hanson; 2 brothers, Orlo and Bob Koch; and 2 sisters, Arlene Pascoe and Eleanor Skrondahl.
