Bernice Warner

Hudson, South Dakota: Bernice (Rohlfs) Warner, 90, of Hudson, died Monday, September 30, 2013 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Porter Funeral Home, Hudson. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30-7:30 pm Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Porter Funeral Home, Hudson. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Bernice was born November 23, 1922 in Preston Township, Plymouth County, Iowa, daughter of John G. and Martha (Rickert) Rohlfs. After graduating LeMars high school, Bernice taught country school. Bernice married Olden 'Olie' Warner on May 29, 1942 at Rockport, Missouri. Together they farmed near Hinton, Iowa and beginning in 1946 near Hudson for 34 years. Beyond enjoying the farm life, Bernice liked dancing and bowling, crossword puzzles, and card games. Olie died on June 24, 2001.

Surviving relatives include her children, Gary (Vicky) Warner and Joan Cunningham all of Hudson; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Olie; infant daughter, Bette Lee; sisters, Irene Bohlken, Rocille Benson, Esther Swenson, Unith Talsma; brother, Lawrence Rohlfs.
