Anna Juffer

Rock Valley, IA: Anna Juffer, 95, of Rock Valley, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Whispering Heights, Rock Valley. A funeral service will be 1:30 pm Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Porter Funeral Home with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-7:30 pm Friday, January 17, 2014 at Porter Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed towards the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Sioux Center. Anna was born April 23, 1918 in the Netherlands, daughter of Bert and Elizabeth Korenberg. The family came to the USA in 1919 to Boyden and later Rock Rapids, Iowa area. Anna married Henry Juffer on January 17, 1945 at Steen, Minnesota. Together they lived at Lester, Iowa for 17 years before moving to Doon, Iowa in 1968. They were members of the Sioux Center Netherlands Reformed Congregation. Henry died February 1, 1985. Anna worked at Valley Manor as a CNA for several years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading, talking to friends on the phone, and spending time with her grandchildren. Anna moved to Whispering Heights on July 1, 2010.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Elsie (Galen) Grevengoed of Rock Valley, and her son Jeff (Mary) Juffer of Rock Valley; son-in-law, Jeff (Tara) Popkes of Rock Rapids, IA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, John Juffer; daughter, Betty Popkes; son-in-law, Randy Ross; siblings and their spouses, Gerrit Korenberg, John and Rena Korenberg, Bertha and William Fluit, Henrietta and Neal De Noble, Mina and Herman Sueverkruebbe.
