Alydia Post

Rock Valley, IA: Alydia Post, 89, of Rock Valley, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at her home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation with family will be from 6:00 - 7:30 pm Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Porter Funeral Home. Alydia was born May 6, 1924 at Rock Valley, daughter of Sam and Martha (Koedam) Van Kekerix. Alydia married Clarence Post on February 7, 1946. Together they farmed and operated Post Dairy north of Rock Valley. Clarence died May 14, 1973. Alydia was a nurse's aide at Valley Manor for 23 years and then volunteered with the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Program for over 10 years. Alydia always enjoyed and shared her flowers, loved her dog Snoopy, and caring for other people.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Marlyn (Betty) Post of Chandler, Arizona; Larry (Bonnie) Post of Rock Valley; brother-in-law, Simon Post of Rock Valley; 4 grandchildren, Wendy Post, Darren Post, Carrie Van Egdom, and Michael Post and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; two brothers, Jim and Bill Van Kekerix; sister, Jeanette Eppinga.
