Rock Valley, IA: Alice Kosters, 97, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Friday, February 9, 2024, at Hegg Health Center of Rock Valley. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 13, at 10:30 AM at Trinity Chrisitan Reformed Church of Rock Valley. The service can be livestreamed at https://livestream.com/accounts/17373723/trinitycrcservices. Burial will be held prior to the service at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Monday, February 12, from 5:30-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Alice Kosters, daughter of Barney and Johanna (Vanden Bosch) Bajema, was born April 25, 1926, in Rock Valley, Iowa. She attended Rock Valley Christian School through the 8th grade and Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa through the 10th grade. Alice was united in marriage with Harold Kosters on October 1, 1947, in Rock Valley. Together the couple farmed north of Doon, Iowa until 2000 when they retired to Rock Valley. Alice and Harold enjoyed traveling, especially the 8 years they wintered in Arizona. Over the years they also enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and attending area auctions in search of a good deal. Alice and Harold cherished each other and their 67 years of marriage. Harold passed away August 15, 2015.
Alice loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and would read her Bible daily. Alice also loved her family and enjoyed it when they could spend time together. Alice had a green thumb and enjoyed flower gardening and plants. During her retirement years, she spent several hours volunteering at Justice For All.
Alice is survived by her three children, Judy (Everet) Vermeer of Rock Valley, Carol (Tim) Hull of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and David (Mary) Kosters of Doon; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Helen Bajema of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Evelyn Bajema of Rock Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Johanna; husband, Harold; and 8 siblings, Otto (Marlene) Bajema, Leonard (Henrietta) Bajema, Frances (Clarence) Dykstra, Irene (John) De Wit, Agnes (Marion) Horstman, Bernard (Mary) Bajema, Ronald Bajema, and Robert Bajema.
