INWOOD, IOWA ~ Alice N. Diekevers, 96, of Inwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Fellowship Village in Inwood.
Memorial Service will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021, at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood with Rev. Rob Horstman officiating. Inurnment will follow in Richland Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday prior to the service. The family prefers memorials be directed to Fellowship Village or the First Reformed Church in Inwood building fund.
Alice was born November 6, 1924, in Sioux Center, Iowa to John and Ada (Doornink) Van De Berg. She graduated from High School and married Marvin Kuyper on January 14, 1948, and they made their home in the Inwood, Iowa area. Marvin died April 30, 1981.
Alice later married Gerrit Diekevers on March 19, 1993. They made their home at Hospers, Iowa. Following Gerrit’s death, Alice moved back to Inwood. Alice worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Canton-Inwood Hospital. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and sewing. She was a member of the First Reformed Church where she served on many committees. She was also a member of the Cotton Club.
Alice is survived by 5 daughters, Norma (Alan) Maurer of Larchwood, Iowa, Diane (Verlyn) Wildeboer of Canton, South Dakota, Carol (Douglas) Friest of Harrisburg, South Dakota, Eloise Hoekstra of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Mary (Warren) Koele of Hull, Iowa; son-in-law, Richard Ekle of Canton, South Dakota; brother, Elmer Van De Berg of Sioux Center; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; son, James Kuyper; daughter, Elaine Ekle; son-in-law, Scott Hoekstra; and grandchildren, Wade Ekle and Jonathan Maurer.
