Rock Valley, IA: Aldo Justino Tomas DeLeon, 19, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Monday, July 4, 2022, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as a result of a drowning. Prayer Service will be held Saturday, July 9, at 6:30 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Rock Valley with Father Mauro Sanchez officiating. Visitation, with family present, will be held Saturday, July 9, from 4:00-6:30 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Aldo’s burial will take place at a later date in Guatemala.

 

  In lieu of flowers, Aldo’s family prefers memorials to help offset expenses. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley is assisting the family with arrangements.  The Christ Community Church, 945 7th Avenue SE in Sioux Center, Iowa, 51250 has offered to be the receiving organization for funds to help the family. Donations may be dropped off at the church with a note indicating that the donation if for the family.

 

   Aldo Justino Tomas DeLeon, son of Apolonio Enrique Tomas and Everilda Marina DeLeon, was born March 17, 2003, at Concepción Tutuapa, San Marcos, Guatemala. Aldo grew up in Guatemala until moving to the United States in 2020. It was Aldo’s dream to come to America and eventually become an American citizen. He lived in Rock Valley, Iowa and attended Rock Valley Community School where he had hoped to graduate and had the vision of continuing his education at college.

 

   Aldo had an excitement for life. He enjoyed learning to draw, sing, fish and play chess. Aldo had even found a love for cooking. He was especially good at making steamed rice and steak. Aldo also enjoyed the farming culture in northwest Iowa and the raising of livestock, dairies, and hogs.

 

   Aldo is survived by his father, Apolonio; mother, Everilda; brothers, Iván Tomas DeLeon, Ema Tomas DeLeon, Eliud Tomas DeLeon, and Benny Tomas DeLeon; uncles, Efrain Tomas and Hermelindo Tomas; as well as other family and friends.

 

 

Rock Valley, IA: Aldo Justino Tomas DeLeon, de 19 años, de Rock Valley, Iowa, murió el lunes 4 de julio de 2022 en el Hospital Avera McKennan en Sioux Falls, Dakota del Sur, como resultado de un ahogamiento. La misa de cristiana sepultura se llevará a cabo el sábado 9 de julio a las 6:30 p. m. en la iglesia católica St. Mary's de Rock Valley oficiando el padre Mauro Sánchez. El velorio, con la presencia de la familia, se llevará a cabo el sábado 9 de julio de 4:00 p. m. a 6:30 p. m. en la iglesia católica de St. Mary.
